Most Sound Level Meter manufacturers do not make microphones. In
sound level meter applications, there are some critical issues:
Polarization Voltage: BSWA prepolarized microphones have
a
polarization voltage of 0 V. This makes it easy to design
Sound Level Meter circuits. Currently, 90% of sound level
meters in the markets used prepolarized microphones.
Class of SLM: According to IEC Standard, there are two classes of sound level
meters. Class 1 is precision type of sound level meters.
BSWA MP 201 is manufactured with Quality Control of 1/2 of
the Class 1 tolerances. Another 1/2 of tolerance is given to
electrical and mechanical design of the sound level meters.
This makes MP201 a preferred model for the Sound Level Meter
manufacturers.Class 2 is survey type of sound level meters.
BSWA MP205 and MP 206 is manufactured with Quality Control
of 1/2 of the Class 2 tolerances.
